Job description

As a Runner/Dishwasher, you play a critical support role in ensuring the smooth operation of service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, speed, and organisation in the Front of House (FOH) and service areas.

The Runner/Dishwasher ensures behind-the-scenes excellence that directly impacts the guest experience, supporting both the kitchen and FOH teams during daily operations, busy events, and pop-up activities.

Your role enables the service team to focus on hospitality and guest interaction while you maintain the essential flow of clean dishes, polished glassware, organized stock, and tidy service areas.

You will also actively assist with running food and beverages to tables during service, making you a visible and important part of the guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Dishwashing & Cleaning

• Manage cleanliness and organization of all FOH dishware, glassware, and utensils. 
• Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently. 
• Hand-wash delicate or specialty items as needed (e.g., wine glasses, specialty plates). 
• Maintain clean and organised dish pit and service areas at all times. Handle kitchen returns and bar returns efficiently. 
• Assist in trash removal and recycling duties at the end of shifts.

Runner Duties

• Support service team by running food and beverages to guests quickly and professionally. 
• Ensure presentation standards are maintained when delivering food and drinks. 
• Communicate clearly with the FOH team regarding table status and service needs. 
• Assist with basic table clearing, resetting, and preparation during busy service times. 
• Support outdoor service areas, terrace, mezzanine, or event spaces with quick and clean food running.
  

Stock & Operational Support

• Restock clean glassware, dishes, cutlery, napkins, and other service items in FOH stations. 
• Ensure service stations are well-supplied throughout service. 
• Assist in setting up and breaking down event/pop-up setups. 
• Monitor and notify management of any maintenance issues with dishwashing equipment or supplies running low.
  
  Teamwork & Guest Focus

• Work closely with the service team to ensure a seamless guest experience. 
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude, even during busy periods.
• Contribute to a tidy, efficient, and welcoming environment for both guests and staff.
• Uphold all hygiene and safety standards at all times.

Work Environment

The restaurant transitions from a casual café atmosphere during the day to an intimate dining and wine bar experience in the evening. The space is often used for events, requiring flexibility in roles and responsibilities.Guests order at the bar, but the FOH team ensures a high level of service through floor presence, engagement, and thoughtful recommendations.
